The composition of ITHUBA’s Board of Directors reflects the philosophy that there is no greater company asset than the relevant knowledge, skill and experience of its people. Each executive director brings to the table their hard-earned management credibility, proven business acumen and extensive governance experience gained by serving on the boards of several influential local and multinational companies. The combination makes for a sound governance structure with expertise in all areas highlighted by the King Reports on good business practice in terms of Board composition that is relevant to the strategic objectives of a South African National Lottery License operator.

Mrs. Mabuza, a driving force behind the formation of ITHUBA, is an award-winning trailblazer who has brokered several major business transactions. In the six years of ITHUBA’s operation, she has led the charge to align the company with international best practices and cutting edge technology.

Mrs. Mabuza sits on several public and private sector boards in the capacity of Chairperson and Director. In March 2020, Mrs. Mabuza won the Forbes Africa Social Impact Award for her remarkable philanthropic work.

Mpho Baatjies is a qualified Chartered Accountant registered with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. His long career in accounting, more specifically in auditing in the mining industry, has been successful.

He has worked on projects with SMEs as well as large international companies, achieving outstanding results and adding value to organisations and projects.

Mr. Phalatse has over 50 years’ experience in local and international corporate and executive management.

Mr.Phalatse has over 50 years’ experience in local and international corporate and executive management. He has done extensive work within the gaming and Lottery industries, as well as in human resources, marketing, and communications.

He served as an Executive Director for 24 years, and a further 10 years as Non-Executive Director at BMW South Africa. Mr. Phalatse is a well-respected and astute businessman, with global expertise in strategy and operations.

Mr. Scott has more than 20 years’ international experience in the regulated gaming industry.

Mr. Scott has more than 20 years’ international experience in the regulated gaming industry, with a focus on Lottery and on-line gaming.

He has spent 15 years with GTECH, now known as International Game Technology (IGT) and an internationally esteemed Lottery and gaming company. He brings to ITHUBA his international framework of Lottery best practice, complimented by his financial skills as a Chartered Accountant.

Ms. Njapa-Mashanda is a Chartered Accountant with over 22 years’ experience in financial management and auditing.

Ms. Njapa-Mashanda is a Chartered Accountant with over 22 years’ experience in financial management and auditing. She has led the Internal Audit Department for MTN Nigeria and overseen DSTV finances in 12 African countries.

Ms. Njapa-Mashanda also headed the Finance department at Transnet Housing, handling more than R3.2 Billion bond books and over R300 Million loan books. Ms. Njapa-Mashanda’s invaluable experience makes her an instrumental part of the ITHUBA Board.

Advocate Mabuza, a Harvard graduate, is a self-made entrepreneur with a multifaceted business portfolio.

As one of South Africa’s most respected businessmen, Advocate Mabuza has served as a Director and Advisor on various boards. He is the founder of Zamani Holdings, ITHUBA’s parent company, and a co-founder of the Eric and Charmaine Mabuza Scholarship Foundation.

Roè Senaoana is the Internal Audit Manager at the National Empowerment Fund (NEF).

Roè Senaoana is the Internal Audit Manager at the National Empowerment Fund (NEF).

She is a qualified Chartered Accountant with 12 years’ experience in both external and internal audit environments, having worked with manufacturing, retail, and motor industry entities. Ms. Senaoana also holds a diploma in Integrated Reporting.
